In a featured article in the March/April 2018 issue of Journal of mHealth, Advanced ICU Care’s CEO Lou Silverman answers questions on the strategic implications of acute care telemedicine and tele-ICU partnerships. In the article, “The Role of Acute Care Telemedicine in Hospitals,” Silverman outlines how 24/7 intensivist oversight paired with the data analytics of tele-ICU partnerships deliver multi-faceted benefits – improving clinical outcomes, while delivering a positive ROI for hospitals and health systems.

Silverman asserts that healthy telemedicine strategies should anchor to proven use cases, such as tele-ICU, and then layer on more experimental efforts. In addition to producing improved clinical outcomes and a robust ROI, tele-ICU delivers on the founding principles of telemedicine by leveraging technology to expand the reach of limited critical care clinical resources and improving patient access to critical care expertise in an efficient and scalable method. Silverman contends, “the clinical telemedicine eco-system continues to enjoy outstanding adoption and continued innovation and is increasingly viewed as the standard of care for both today – and tomorrow.”
